About Us

Founding history
It all started in 2004
In 2004, married couple Ina and Andreas Frey founded FREY Nutrition together while they were students at the University of Paderborn. In a very short time, the company of the high school teacher and the business education graduate grew disproportionately quickly and was able to establish itself consistently both nationally and internationally. This is due in no small part to the optimal synergy of the two founders. By 2004, Andreas could already look back on an extremely successful career as a professional bodybuilder with numerous national and international titles. The entire competition preparation was supported and accompanied by Ina, who had worked as a trainer in the gym since 1998 during her school and later university years. When developing the product, Andreas was able to draw on his own many years of supplementing with nutritional supplements and test all newly developed products himself in his own training and during competition preparation. It quickly became clear that only what Andreas himself took and found to be good was produced and offered for sale. In addition to her German, history and mathematics courses, Ina also studied nutrition so that she could contribute to product development with professional expertise. Ina, the Germanist, took over the area of product and advertising copy as well as sports photography. Andreas, the business education graduate, took over the balance sheets and IT. They couldn't have complemented each other better. As the company's success grew, a highly qualified team of long-term employees also grew.

The idea

The original idea for founding FREY Nutrition arose from a doping and contamination scandal involving nutritional supplements. This meant that Andreas no longer wanted to rely on other suppliers, as he was ultimately dependent on nutritional supplements in his daily diet as part of his competitive sport in order to meet his extreme needs. This is how the Paderborn-based company was founded, which has so far managed to establish itself worldwide in terms of the highest and purest quality. The multi-component protein Protein96 alone is considered to be unrivalled in terms of its composition and its exceptionally high protein content.
Andreas passed away in October 2022. Ina has taken over the management alone and continues the common company motto "THE BEST OR NOTHING" in memory of her husband. FREY Nutrition has become an indispensable part of the nutritional supplements market, because the highest quality will ultimately always prevail.
Managing Director & Owner
Ina Frey / CV
Ina Frey was born on March 18, 1982 in Höxter and graduated from high school in 2001 at the KWG in Höxter. Ina was already involved in sports at a young age and accompanied her father to the gym on Saturdays at the age of nine, where she started working as a trainer at the age of 16 to earn some money alongside school. Ballet and modern dance were her passion. She also played drums in various bands, orchestras and the school big band. Together with her siblings, she founded her own band, in which she was the singer while she sat on the drums or played the guitar. Ina studied secondary level I / II at the University of Paderborn from 2001 to 2006 and received her first state examination in 2006. She also became self-employed as a fitness trainer and supported Andreas Frey, her then boyfriend and later husband, in his preparation for national and international bodybuilding competitions. Her second state examination followed in 2008. In 2009 she received the title of senior teacher. Parallel to her career as a civil servant, Ina founded and established the company FREY Nutrition in Paderborn together with Andreas Frey in 2004. Among other things, Ina also studied nutrition and trained in the field of photography, so that she documented Andreas' active bodybuilding time photographically and then took over the professional bodybuilding competition photography for FREY Foto at the NAC Germany competitions until 2011. After Ina and Andreas married in 2009 after 10 years of relationship, they had their first daughter, Anna, in 2011 and their second daughter, Lisa, in 2016. Andreas died in October 2022 and Ina took over the management of FREY Nutrition.

Former Managing Director & Owner

Andreas Frey was born on October 20, 1979 and spent his childhood in Romania until he was six years old before moving to Germany. In Romania he attended a German elementary school and spoke primarily German. From an early age he was one of the "greatest" and very well developed. Sport quickly became his passion and he played numerous sports such as tennis, handball, basketball, swimming and athletics, mostly successfully in clubs. However, he did not find a sport that motivated and excited him in the long term.

At the age of nine, he started fitness training, now living in Bavaria. His father motivated him with statements such as "You have good genetics" and "You are naturally suited to strength training." Due to his young age, he was only allowed to train in the presence of a trainer, and exercises such as squats or lifting heavy free weights were avoided. After a year, however, he lost interest in strength training and devoted himself to other sports, but fitness training did not let him go and he continued to train regularly at home. After moving to Höxter, he tried the gym again - this time for good.

He began training seriously at the age of 15, with a height of 1.83 m and a weight of 90 kg. He quickly increased his training weights and built up muscle mass. After just six months, in 1995, at the age of 15, he took part in his first championship, the NRW Youth Championship in Oberhausen. This experience motivated him to take part in more competitions and to continue training. He improved from year to year and achieved consistently better placings.

Andreas' active competitive career in bodybuilding, first as an amateur and later as a professional, lasted from 1995 to 2009. During this time he won numerous titles, including multiple German champion, two-time European champion, three-time world champion, Mr. Universe and, as a PDI professional, runner-up at the Night of Champions behind Lee Priest. Due to his early and extremely successful career, he was supported by many sponsors. In 2009, he officially ended his career to start a family and got married. In addition, the high workload at FREY Nutrition meant he no longer had the time to continue competing. As a perfectionist, he could never be satisfied with half measures, so he decided against professional sport and for the company and his family.

In addition to his successful sporting career, Andreas graduated from high school in 1999 and studied business education in Paderborn, where he received the title of business school teacher. After FREY Nutrition was founded and established in 2004, he also enjoyed working as a private lecturer for the IST Institute in Düsseldorf-Berlin and gave numerous seminars in fitness studios. As a passionate educator, he loved passing on knowledge to those who shared his passion for sport and nutrition. Eventually he developed the commuter diet with the associated cheat day, which is firmly established in the curriculum of students and trainees at the IST Institute. Sportrevue, one of the largest bodybuilding and fitness magazines, signed him as a columnist, and for many years every issue featured a new column by Andreas in which he answered questions about bodybuilding and fitness. He put all the knowledge he had gained over the years into developing FREY Nutrition's nutritional supplements.

Andreas Frey, a bodybuilding icon, successful entrepreneur, passionate educator and absolute family man, has achieved great things and thus left his footprint on this world.
