Column 60 - Supplement sensibly
Again and again you read statements in advertising such as "Five kilos of muscle mass in just six weeks!" Is something like that even possible? Do the advertised products really do as much as the advertising promises? Which nutritional supplements do you think are useful and which ones are dispensable?

Marketing departments do indeed come up with a lot of ideas to get their products to people. I always advise caution when it comes to advertising and to critically question every statement.

Despite what the advertising would like to make us believe, it is simply not possible to gain five kilos of muscle mass in just six weeks. In fact, you should not exceed the 500 gram limit per week when gaining weight - and this is not just muscle mass, but also fat and water. Anyone who can gain five to six kilos of pure, fat-free muscle over the course of a year is one of the genetically blessed athletes...

Not everything that is sold freely is safe and free of side effects.
You shouldn’t take everything blindly
Products that contain substances that can be harmful to your health are dangerous. In this case, you have not only paid for the products without benefiting from them, but you are also putting your body at additional risk. Not everything that is sold freely is harmless and free of side effects. Let's take the so-called prohormones as an example: these products, which are supposed to contain a precursor of the male hormone testosterone, were initially sold freely, but were then taken off the market and banned due to numerous concerns. Such products can cause serious side effects such as acne, erectile dysfunction and organ strain. But products keep cropping up on the open market - especially those from the States - that have (still) not been adequately tested and should therefore be avoided.

You should always ask yourself whether a certain product is necessary for you - and especially for your current stage of development. Protein and carbohydrate powders, for example, are particularly useful if you cannot cover your increased nutritional needs through your normal diet, or if you can only do so inadequately. You need these building blocks to build muscle mass, and it is often difficult to get enough of them through your normal diet. Especially when you need something quickly, such as in the morning or directly after training, nutritional supplements are now indispensable.

FOR BEGINNERS

PROTEIN 96 as multi-component protein
For bodybuilding beginners I can PROTEIN 96 AS A MULTI-COMPONENT PROTEIN as well as  RECOMMEND A CARBOHYDRATE PRODUCT LIKE MALTO 95. The multi-component protein should be consumed once or twice a day - it is particularly useful to take it as the last meal before going to bed, as the high casein content in PROTEIN 96 supplies the muscle cells with a constant supply of protein for several hours - just the thing for the night hours.
MALTO 95 should be used in conjunction with a HIGH QUALITY WHEY PROTEIN LIKE TRIPLE WHEY Take it directly after training to replenish the depleted glycogen stores as quickly as possible and to start the regeneration phase. For beginners, these three products are completely sufficient.

FOR ADVANCED

Branched-chain amino acids
Advanced athletes can also ANABOLIC BCAA + AS A HIGH-DOSE BCAA PRODUCT or even CREATINE MONOHYDRATE use.

Creatine replenishes the body's ATP stores, which leads to increased strength and, in the long term, to the building of new muscle mass; it is not for nothing that creatine is one of the most effective of all nutritional supplements, and rightly so!

Due to the increased load of increasingly heavy weights, GLUTAMINE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT AMINO ACID FOR IMPROVED REGENERATION . Recovery times between workouts can be significantly reduced; in addition, taking glutamine can reduce muscle soreness.

FOR PROFESSIONALS

CREATIN X6 as special creatine
Professionals - and those who want to become one - use SPECIAL PRODUCTS LIKE ARGININE for increased blood circulation, TRIBULUS TERRESTRIS FOR TESTOSTERONE BALANCE , BETA-ALANINE or CREATIN X6 FOR MUSCLE BUILDING to get the last bit of potential out of their body. Even after years of training, this lays the foundation for further performance improvement.
Products for professionals are more effective the more advanced (i.e. more muscular/more powerful) the athlete is. These products are not/hardly suitable for beginners because they are simply not necessary and their potential cannot be exploited to its full potential.

L-CARNITINE AS A FAT CARRIER

Carnipure from Lonza
For those who want to boost their fat burning, there are various L-carnitine products on the supplement market.

HOWEVER, L-CARNITINE ONLY PROMOTES FAT BURNING if you do cardio training and limit your calories at the same time. Although L-carnitine promotes fat transport, without appropriate aerobic training, fat cannot be released and burned.

Here too, it is important to separate the wheat from the chaff, as many of the carnitine preparations on offer have no effect whatsoever due to the use of inferior ingredients. It is important to only use carnitine such as Carnipure®, which is manufactured by the raw material producer Lonza and is considered the best carnitine in the world.

FAT BURNER FOR FAT LOSS

X-BURN for fat loss
So-called fat burners can also help you reach your ideal weight. But be careful! Particularly sensitive people may not be able to tolerate them. This includes people with an overactive thyroid or with persistent depression, or women who are pregnant.

Here, too, accompanying cardio training, calorie reduction and general perseverance during the diet play an important role in ultimately achieving your goals successfully.

FAT BURNERS AND CARNITINE PRODUCTS should never be seen as a weight loss aid on its own, but should always be combined with a diet and regular exercise. Only then will these nutritional supplements develop their full effect and be able to support fat loss in a meaningful way!
